MARIA STARK, M.B.A
Maria Stark is one of the leading research experts in the U.S. in the areas of advertising, entertainment, communication and brand research, with over 25 years of experience. Before forming Hypothesis in 1999, she served as Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Lieberman Research Worldwide in Los Angeles. Maria holds an undergraduate degree in Marketing from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
JEFF SELTZER, M.A.
Jeff has over 13 years experience in market research with particular expertise in new product development, brand strategy, pricing/forecasting, and customer satisfaction. Before joining Hypothesis in 2001, Jeff held senior-level positions at Wirthlin Worldwide (Harris Interactive) and Lieberman Research Worldwide. He also taught Persuasion and Rhetoric as an adjunct professor at George Washington University and Communications at San Diego State University.
SANDRA IRLEN TOSTA, PH.D.
With a doctoral degree in educational psychology, Sandra specializes in quantitative and qualitative research involving children, education, and media. Sandy has 10 years of research experience and plays an integral role in design and implementation of our pilot and on-air program evaluation methodology. She has authored a variety of papers on related topics, and contributed a chapter on parenting in a multimedia society in Marc Bornstein’s Handbook of Parenting:

MAURICIO FERREIRA, PH.D.
Mauricio directs our Advanced Marketing Sciences group at Hypothesis with over 10 years of expertise in the areas of multivariate data analysis, promotions response modeling, sales/revenue forecasting models, and innovative discrete choice designs. He provides a unique blend of creative analytical approaches and marketing savvy. Before joining Hypothesis, Mauricio was the Chief Methodologist at IMS Health Global Consulting – one of the largest pharmaceutical market research consulting firms. He also served as the Director of Market Research at DRSI Group, a specialized market research and forecasting company within the health care arena, and held faculty positions at Texas A&M University and Ohio University. He currently has several publications in academic journals and has presented research in national and international conferences. Fluent in three languages, Mauricio received his Ph.D. with an emphasis in Research Methods and Marketing from The Ohio State University.
CHRISTINA SIDEN
Since 2001, Christina has applied her research expertise to a wide variety of consumer product, retail, and entertainment projects. She has particular experience in the designing and directing of large-scale tracking studies and consumer segmentations. She also has strong experience with international projects utilizing both quantitative and qualitative techniques. Before joining Hypothesis in 2004, Christina held a senior position at Lieberman Research Worldwide.
MAE LAGRIMAS ATWOOD
A graduate of Harvard University, Mae brings over 13 years market research experience to Hypothesis with an expertise in brand awareness and usage tracking, communications evaluation, and customer satisfaction. While Mae has conducted research for a wide variety of sectors, her focus has been in the areas of entertainment, technology, and new media. Her repertoire includes qualitative, forecasting and large-scale multi-territory studies for the home video category. She also has a strong background in the consumer packaged goods and financial services industries. Prior to joining Hypothesis, Mae held senior positions at C.A. Walker Research Solutions and Diagnostic Research (now D/R Added Value).
AMY CAMPMAN
Amy Campman has a degree in Psychology and English and brings over 13 years of experience in market research, including extensive experience in customer satisfaction, loyalty and retention, branding, and ad testing. Amy is involved in all aspects of research design, data collection, analysis, and reporting. Amy has particular expertise in the areas of consumer shopping insight and technology. At Hypothesis, Amy helped develop an innovative research tool for understanding complex, dynamic consumer shopping decisions. Her writings include a cover article for Quirk’s Marketing Research Review.
JILLIAN DOMIN
Jillian comes to Hypothesis with 7 years of market research experience. She has worked with a range of clients in a variety of industries including technology, specialty eateries, fast food, internet, and television. Jillian has particular expertise in global tracking studies, consumer segmentation, brand positioning, product testing, and ad copy testing. Prior to joining Hypothesis Jillian worked as an Account Manager with Millward Brown and was also part of the KB Home Corporate Research group.
KATE HARTZELL, M.A.
Kate has a wide range of experience, including large scale tracking studies, brand positioning, consumer segmentation, and copy testing. Kate has experience managing research in multiple countries, and in wide array of industries including technology, online services, gaming, and the non-profit sector. Prior to joining Hypothesis, Kate was a Senior Account Executive at Hall & Partners. She received her MA in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, and her BA in Sociology from UCLA.
JHOMAR JOSUE
Jhomar leads the design and media creative team at Hypothesis. He has an undergraduate degree in Film, Television, & New Media with a minor in Graphic Design. As a Hypothesis designer, Jhomar provides innovative ways to visually communicate information in a “storytelling” form. He also specializes in video and explores ways to implement emerging technologies in the industry. Before joining Hypothesis, he worked as a freelance graphic designer and a digital media producer for an online educational company.
JOYCE FOWLER
With more than 11 years of business administration experience, Joyce has been a member of the Hypothesis team since our founding. She manages our day-to-day operations, including office issues, human resources, and accounting.
SAUL CASTANEDA
Saul is a member of our Advanced Marketing Sciences group at Hypothesis. He also manages a wide variety of quantitative projects, with a particular expertise in discrete choice designs and product viability. He has an undergraduate degree in Business with an emphasis on Marketing from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business.
ANNE GROSSMAN
Anne most recently served as Director of Research at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group, where she oversaw all facets of research for the Theatrical business, covering issues from title marketing strategy to Blu-ray branding, digital distribution, retail strategy, and cross-media measurement initiatives. Prior to joining Warner Bros., Anne was one of five original members who helped establish the media and entertainment research firm Interpret. She has also serviced entertainment, media and mobile clients, both domestic and international, while at Nielsen Entertainment. Anne studied political science and math at Columbia University.
KATE MIKELS, M.A.
Kate comes to Hypothesis with several years of research experience. Most recently, she worked at Lieberman Research Worldwide, where she specialized in global brand tracking and ad tracking. Kate also has a solid foundation in academic research. She was a research assistant at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where she played an integral role in analyzing data for academic papers. In graduate school, she focused her studies on social science research methods. Kate holds an MA in Political Science from UC Berkeley and a BA in Political Science and Psychology from Boston University.
CODY SAYA
A founding member of the successful Bay Area design firm, Studio66 and a graduate of FIDM he brings his talents of engaging typography, dynamic publication and layout design, and photography to the team at Hypothesis. Working with his fellow creatives as a Creative Director, Cody leverages his talents at the task of crafting the dynamic and innovative storytelling deliverables Hypothesis has come to be known for.
DAREN REIFSNEIDER
Prior to joining Hypothesis, Daren’s research focused primarily on K-12 education. Most recently, she served as a research associate an educational consulting firm, where she focused on measuring school effectiveness, evaluating ed-tech interventions, and contributing to research for the U.S. Department of Education’s Regional Education Lab, Mid-Atlantic. Before that, she worked as an education research assistant for the Milken Family Foundation. She attended Pepperdine University’s School of Public Policy, focusing on policy analysis and received her B.A. in Politics with a research methods emphasis from Occidental College in 2002.
KRISLAM CHIN
Before joining Hypothesis as a graphic designer, Krislam studied Graphic Design – Branding at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM). She specializes in typography, publication & illustration.
